Missionary Training School Add-Ons

During Global Frontier Missions' missionary training school (MTS) we provide excellent training that every person going into cross-cultural missions needs in order to thrive no matter the field God is calling them. The training includes topics such as language learning techniques, culture acquisition, cross-cultural evangelism and discipleship, church planting principles, spiritual warfare, etc.

Now in addition to the core MTS curriculum, we have several different “add-ons” that will allow missionaries the option to hone specialized skills that can be used in expanding God’s Kingdom. Some of these add-ons may help missionaries learn skills that could provide legitimate access into resticted countries or areas. These specializations give additional skills and expertise that will help missionaries thrive on the mission field!

Agriculture Missions Program

Through the Agricultural Missions Program, participants will learn best practices in sustainable agriculture based on the Foundations for Farming principles while also learning how to teach these same principles to others. GFM is uniquely located within the diverse cultural context of Clarkston, GA which is home to over 13,000 refugees from 60+ nations. While practical skills needed to live on the mission field and connect with communities are often included in missionary training, evangelism readiness is often assumed. However, evangelism must be learned and practiced as well. As our students learn the principles of sustainable agriculture, they will also have time dedicated to cross-cultural evangelism within the GFM community garden and the larger Clarkston community, allowing them to be ready to serve the nations in both word and deed.

Future MTS Add Ons

We are excited about adding additional more "add ons" in the future. We are actively praying that God would bring us more staff and ministry partners who offer expertise in the following areas:

Trauma exists in abundance across cultures, traditions, family systems, and people groups. GFM wants to help missionaries love the communities they enter well by equipping them to provide trauma care. To offer this specialized training, GFM is looking to hire additional staff interested in this field to build out this specialization as well as to partner with local partners involved in trauma care ministry in the Atlanta area.

Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL, TEFL, CELTA) - In many parts of the world, knowing English can open up the door to educational opportunities, career advancement, social integration, and countless other areas of personal development. GFM is seeking to equip and train missionaries to be able to teach ESL. In order to offer this specialized training, GFM is looking to hire an experienced staff member who can build out this specialization and start an ESL program in the Clarkston area. GFM is also looking to enhance our students' ESL training through partnering with local ESL partners in the Atlanta area.

Diaspora Ministry - The number of displaced people around the world has been growing and it seems likely that this trend will only continue to increase. Displaced persons are faced with unique challenges as they are often seeking to adjust to a new culture and country. GFM wants to equip missionaries to be able to holistically care for displaced people physically, emotionally, and spiritually. To offer this specialized training, GFM is seeking to hire a staff member with experience in diaspora ministry as well as partner with local organizations serving refugees in Clarkston, GA.

Business as Mission - Over the years, BAM has proven to be an effective movement that allows missionaries to enter difficult to access communities while bringing about positive community transformation. GFM wants to equip and train missionaries who are seeking to do business in a missional context. In order to provide this specialized training to MTS students, GFM is looking to partner with mission-minded businesses and organizations in the Atlanta area.

Medical Missions - Access to healthcare continues to be one of the most pressing needs in many communities throughout the world. GFM wants to help equip missionaries seeking to enter into medical missions with the necessary skills. To provide this specialized training, GFM is looking to partner with mission-minded healthcare clinics and providers in the Atlanta area.

Family Program - Parents and children will get specialized training and coaching for the unique challenges that families have when going to the mission field. The kids will get age appropriate training on the topics that mom and dad are learning: spiritual warfare, learning language, culture shock, how to deal with transitions, etc. The parents will also get weekly coaching with some tips on things to talk through as a family in order to prepare for launching overseas.
