GFM - The Biblical Basis of Missions
Genesis 12:1-3: "The Lord had said to Abram, ' Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you...I will bless you... and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.'" (NIV)
Matthew 28:19,20: "...go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. (NIV)
One command in the Old Testament from the Lord to Abram, telling him to leave his own people and go elsewhere. Why? So that "all peoples on earth will be blessed".
One command in the New Testament from the Lord to all Christians, telling us to go to all nations and teach them everything Christ has taught us. And we know that there is no blessing greater than knowing Christ.
Global Frontier Missions believes that the Bible has one unified message from Genesis to Revelation; that those of us who are blessed with the knowledge of the love of God and the salvation that the death and resurrection of Christ gave us should spread that blessing to all peoples of the earth. To do any different is to disobey the direct commands of God Himself. Many are called to go, and many are called to send and support those who go through prayer and finances, but there is no one exempt from involvement in this command to make disciples of all nations (people groups).
How can you get involved? We invite you first and foremost to pray and ask the Lord how He would have you serve. And then be obedient to His direction. If He asks you to begin giving of financial and prayer support to one who is going, then do so with full joy. If He asks you to go, then go knowing that Jesus is "...with you always, to the very end of the age." If you would like to learn more, we invite you to Sign up for our free GFM missions Ebulletin or participate in our Short Term Missions Trips, Summer Internships or Missionary Training School.
Romans 10:14,15: "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" (NIV)
